Staff Nurse / Senior Staff Nurse (Invasive Cardiac Lab)

Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic & resourceful nurse who is able to work independently and as part of a team. You will join a team of professionals in a non-subsidized multidisciplinary clinic to provide high standard of patient care by performing clinical procedures that will meet the patients’ immediate physical and emotional needs. You will be responsible for liaising with the ward to prepare for cardiac procedures and assist the cardiologists in angiographic procedures and implant of stents. You will also administer the medications as prescribed.

 

Requirements:

  • State Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing / Diploma in Nursing
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in operating theatre/acute setting preferred
  • Advanced Diploma with relevant Specialty preferred
  • Flexible with the ability to function both independently and as part of a team.
  • Requires initiative, judgment and dependability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
  • Able to perform on-call duties

 

Key Duties:

  • Prepares patient and assists the physician during cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertions, and other cardiovascular procedure by performing circulating, monitoring, and scrubbing duties.
  • Performs patient assessment, monitoring of the patient's vital signs and cardiac rhythms pre, during and post procedures. Administer medication according to the physician's instructions.
  • Practices sterility and aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control guidelines.
  • Provide comprehensive critical nursing care during the immediate post procedure recovery phase.
  • Documents patient's progress and treatment before, during and after cardiac procedures accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrates competency to monitor patient's with procedural sedation.
  • Coordinates all patient-related activities for continuity of care.
  • Communicate critical clinical situation using standardized communication technique: SBAR
  • Accompanies patient during the intra-hospital and inter-hospital transfer when the need arises.
  • Provides leadership when clinical emergency arises.
  • Provide patient education based on the patient's needs and within his/her competency.
  • Maintain effective communication and good interpersonal relationship with patients and family.
  • Act as a resource person for the staff.
  • Practice standard precaution when delivering patient care. Prescribe and implement fall preventive measures.
