Sr Executive
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior/Executive (Data Analyst) in the NCID Epidemiology and Data Unit performs in-depth data analyses for clinical and epidemiological studies to support NCID’s purpose to protect the people of Singapore from infectious diseases. Key focal areas include the prevention, control, surveillance and research of infectious diseases of public health concern.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SPECIFIC
- Perform in-depth analyses of data for clinical and epidemiological studies and risk assessment of pathogens (e.g. modelling of disease outbreak trajectories). This involves extracting, processing and analyzing data.
- Design and maintain databases and disease registries for clinical audits, epidemiological surveillance programmes, studies of infectious disease, quality improvement and research projects.
- Explore, identify and link pertinent data from multiple sources, create summary dashboards to facilitate visualisation and decision-making by management.
- Leverage on artificial intelligence (AI) tools and techniques to improve information creation and knowledge transfer. Develop a methodology and system for managing and extracting complex data from various databases or sources, which will require proficiency in logical data models and developing data dictionaries.
- Perform quality review through extracting, summarising and developing key data indicators to support NCID’s mission in delivering high quality care.
- Interpret and present qualitative and quantitative information for scientific meetings, reports, proposals and publications.
- Collect, collate, organize and manage clinical and epidemiological data to meet operational needs during infectious disease outbreaks, including reports to the Ministry of Health, Communicable Diseases Agency or other agencies.
GENERAL
- Participate actively as a team member in quality improvement projects at hospital-wide and departmental levels
- Go beyond routine work responsibilities and office hours during exigencies of service (e.g. during national outbreaks of infectious diseases).
- Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor and as required by the Executive Director of NCID and the Infectious Diseases Department.
- Applicants must have high integrity, a strong commitment to maintaining patient data confidentiality, be eager to learn and be proactive in contributing to the team
- It should be noted that the work of the Unit is of a confidential nature and must not be communicated to other persons except when required for authorised purposes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics / Statistics or in a field related to data handling
EXPERIENCE
- Proficient in using MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel and Access) and at least one statistical software solution in the healthcare setting (e.g. SAS, STATA, SPSS, R)
- Prior work experience in data collection, data audit, and maintenance of datasets, preferably in a health-related setting
- Ability to exercise patience, work independently and with teams, and under a variety of conditions
- Adaptable, goal-oriented, proactive and able to work under pressure including in rapidly changing environments, e.g. an outbreak
- High integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality of information
