JOB SUMMARY
 

The Senior/Executive Assistant (Public Health Officer, HIV Registry) in the National Public Health and Epidemiology Unit (NPHEU) undertakes field epidemiological investigations and controls the spread of major communicable diseases in Singapore such as HIV and other sexually-transmitted infections.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

SPECIFIC

 

 

  1. Epidemiological investigation of new HIV cases
  • Interview index case and request relevant information necessary for contact tracing and epidemiological investigation.
  • Conduct tracing of all contacts of the index case, including the notification of spouses
  • Refer and encourage all identifiable contacts of index case to go for HIV testing, and track their test results
  • Establish and confirm epidemiological links between index and possible contact from medical records, national portals and various source systems, as well as interview notes from index case and possible contacts
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders in NCID, health institutions and other public health agencies to collect information for HIV Registry in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act (IDA)
  • Ensure accurate data entry into HIV Registry in a timely manner and each case is properly serialised

 

  1. Maintenance of HIV Registry
  • Support the administration of the NPHURS (National Public Health Unit Registry System)
  • Conduct periodic audit of data in HIV Registry
  • Provide analysis of national trend on HIV cases using data from HIV Registry
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports on the HIV Registry data
  • Monitor the key performance indicators for the National HIV Registry and submit periodic updates to the Data Supervisor
  • Collate and submit reports to MOH and other agencies

 

  1. Support other HIV surveillance programmes and studies
  • Organise and collate HIV and STI data from various healthcare providers
  • Verify and perform data entry for data and forms submitted to the HIV Registry and Surveillance team
  • Respond to requests for data and other information

 

GENERAL

 

  1. Perform any duties as assigned by the team supervisor
  2. Carry out any other duties as required by the Director of NPHEU and the NPHEU teams

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION

 

  • Diploma, with 1-2 years of working experience
  • Candidates with the relevant qualifications and years of work experiences may be considered for the Executive role instead
  • Fields related to health sciences, nursing or social work would be advantageous

 

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Experience with investigative, public health work or data analysis would be an advantage
  • Experience in data management and administrative work
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • High integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Adaptable, goal-oriented, self-starter who is pro-active and able to work under pressure as well as in rapidly evolving environments
