Sr Clinical Psychologist
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
To deliver comprehensive psychological services including individual and group psychotherapy, psychometric assessments, and specialized interventions for patients with moderate to complex presentations within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting. The Senior Clinical Psychologist provides clinical leadership, supervision, and contributes to service development while demonstrating intermediate to advanced level clinical competencies and professional autonomy.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) SPECIFIC (80%)
Clinical
1. Provide individual and/or group psychotherapy for inpatients and outpatients (e.g. cognitive-behaviour therapy, stress management, mindfulness) for moderate to complex cases
2. Conduct comprehensive psychometric assessments (e.g. IQ, neuropsychological, dementia assessments) with advanced interpretation and clinical recommendations
3. Attend to routine medico-legal and forensic cases with appropriate documentation and expert opinion
4. Maintain consistent standards of care including clinical and service delivery for complex cases
5. Participate actively in team/department clinical practice improvement or quality improvement activities/projects
6. Ensure maintenance/improvement of safe and effective care and clinical competency outcomes
7. Contribute to care effectiveness through comprehensive documentation and outcome monitoring
Education
1. Assist in the hospital's peer support program for staff and/or corporate clients and deliver talks and workshops on stress management and mental health
2. Assist in supervision to junior psychologists, providing clinical guidance and professional development support
3. Coach/supervise/train new and existing staff (JG12 and below) and/or AHP students as clinical educator or mentor
4. Conduct health profession education/training to intra/inter-department colleagues
5. Speak (by invitation/nomination) at local conferences/seminars/scientific meetings
6. Plan and organize education activities (i.e. department CE, HPE training, patient education events) at intra-department level
Research & Innovation
1. Demonstrate ability to critically evaluate research/innovation (novel/emerging practices) and translate to practice at intra-department level
2. Use literature to modify/develop evidence-based practice/guidelines
3. Assist in the design and implementation of research/innovation projects (i.e. literature review, study protocol, grant writing, data collection/analysis, manuscript)
4. Present research/innovation at local conferences
Leadership & Management
1. Manage services and resources to achieve department/institution strategic goals and outcome targets
2. Plan/develop/review/improve/implement service/program/project to meet department/institution priorities and population health needs with guidance
3. Co-lead inter-professional/inter-department workgroups/teams to deliver/improve/transform service and care to meet current and emerging needs
4. Engage inter-professions/stakeholders in decision making and provide feedback
5. Engage support staff to manage/coach performance and professional development
(B) GENERAL (20%)
1. Involvement in hospital clinical services and/or provide input for relevant hospital programmes
2. Participate in research in collaboration with other specialists to advance psychological practice
3. Conduct talks and lectures in psychology or related subjects to mental health professionals and/or psychology students
4. Demonstrate professional behavior including respect for patient privacy, confidentiality, and professional integrity
5. Practice within limits of competence, making appropriate referrals and maintaining accurate record keeping
6. Adapt practice to local culture, multiracial/multilingual population, and healthcare system requirements
7. Actively participate in hospital and department initiatives and activities
8. Undertake any special duties as assigned by CEO, CMB, COO, HOD and supervisor
9. Adhere to policies and procedures of the Hospital and Department
10. Embrace continuous improvements by improving and refining work performance on a daily basis
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Highest qualification a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from recognized institution
• At least 3-4 years of relevant clinical psychology experience in healthcare setting
• Demonstrated competency in psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions
(B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
• Preferably holding or eligible for a valid registration, license or practicing certificate with an established or recognized psychological professional body such as APA, APS or BPS.
• Commitment to maintain continuing professional development requirements
(C) PERSONAL ATTRIBUTE
• Advanced clinical assessment and therapeutic intervention skills appropriate for Band 3B level
• Strong supervision and mentoring capabilities for junior staff and students
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse patient populations and professional contexts
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Proven commitment to evidence-based practice and professional development
