JOB SUMMARY
 

The Senior / Bioinformatician or Medical Statistician in the NCID Epidemiology and Data Unit provides biostatistical expertise to the design and analyses of studies pertaining to the prevention, surveillance and control of infectious diseases of public health concern and to support NCID’s purpose to protect the people of Singapore from infectious diseases. The role necessitates working closely with the NCID Epidemiology and Data Unit and other professionals at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (including clinicians, scientists, statistician and researchers).

 

 

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

SPECIFIC

 

  1. Work closely with the data engineers, epidemiologists, clinicians, and researchers in projects, providing biostatistical support in the design, enhancement and use of databases, disease registries, electronic health record data and epidemiological studies. Leverage on artificial intelligence (AI) tools and techniques to improve information creation and knowledge transfer.

 

  1. Perform statistical analyses of data and assist with the interpretation and presentation of quantitative information for presentations, reports, proposals and publications. This includes routine and ad-hoc epidemiological analyses, clinical studies, and risk assessment of pathogens (e.g. modelling of disease outbreak trajectories).

 

  1. Provide biostatistical consultancy as and when required, and to provide sound statistical knowledge for appropriate epidemiological analysis of data.

 

  1. Review internal and external reports and publications for appropriateness, accuracy and coherence of proposed or selected statistical analyses.

 

GENERAL

 

  1. Conduct training and research to continuously advance the field of biostatistics.

 

  1. Mentor and supervise junior statisticians and data analysts to conduct data cleaning, statistical analysis and modelling, as well as interface with epidemiologists, clinicians, and researchers on analytic projects.

 

  1. Conduct research that would lead to publication in peer-reviewed journals as appropriate. Participate actively as a member or team lead for quality improvement projects at the centre or Unit level.

 

  1. Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor and as required by the Executive Director of NCID and the Infectious Diseases Department.

 

  1. It should be noted that the work of the Unit is of a confidential nature and must not be communicated to other persons except when required for authorised purposes.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

 

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in statistics, analytics, data science, industrial engineering, mathematics or economics.
