Sr Bioinformatician

You will be working closely with the IDRTO researchers and committees on various internal and collaborative projects related to infectious diseases, with emphasis on whole-genome sequencing of Gram-negative bacteria. The key roles include analyzing data, development of bioinformatics tools pipelines, and manuscript preparation for submission to peer-review publications.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools and pipelines related to next-generation sequencing of Gram-negative bacteria and other related analyses
  • Perform sequence and data analysis related to next-generation sequencing of Gram-negative bacteria
  • Reporting key results of data analysis
  • Manuscript preparation for submission to peer reviewed journals by thorough literature review, Preliminary data analysis, and manuscript drafting
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator / Supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
  • At least a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational biology or Biological Sciences
  • Experienced in bioinformatics analysis of whole genome sequencing data for at least 4 years
  • Familiar with file management and data analysis in the Unix/Linux environment
  • Proficient in programming and scripting languages required for bioinformatics data analysis
  • Prior experience in publication of research findings would be an advantage
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
