Job Description for Senior Research Analyst (Operations Research)

 

Health Services and Outcomes Research (HSOR) is a multi-disciplinary health services research department within National Healthcare Group (NHG) that provides decision support, evaluates programs and studies health behaviour.

 

Aim: 

We are seeking a senior analyst to provide mathematical modelling and decision support to NHG. HSOR is a multi-disciplinary team of about 30 specialists and researchers from diverse backgrounds, including medicine, nursing, physiotherapy/occupational therapy, epidemiology and public health, qualitative research, biostatistics, computer science, data science, informatics, operations research, health economics, and social science. We work closely with senior management, clinical heads, and ground-level managers in formulating research questions and translating evidence into actionable decisions and practice. You will be part of the Data Science & Operations Research team within HSOR.

 

Qualification and requirements: 

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Industrial/Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines
  • Strong expertise in Operations Research methods, including optimisation (mathematical programming), discrete event simulation, and probability & statistics
  • Proficiency in major programming languages, such as Python, SQL.
  • Knowledge in healthcare domain, machine learning, biostatistics, and epidemiology would be advantageous
  • Independent thinking with the humility to listen and learn, and a team player
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in analytics (more senior position available for candidates with additional experience)

 

Role:

  • Understand stakeholder requirements, structure complex problems, and propose solutions using appropriate modelling methods, particularly those involving Operations Research. Analyse results, derive insights, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders. Projects may require detailed analysis or rapid turnaround depending on urgency
  • Coordinate, report, oversee, and analyse key operational indicators for senior management on a routine basis, working closely with healthcare institutions. This role involves data standardisation and quality assurance, requiring familiarity with the healthcare data domain
  • Contribute to teaching and publishing activities as required
