  1. JOB PURPOSE

 

To coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in the operation and maintenance of pulmonary and polysomnography equipment to provide detained analysis of pulmonary physiology tests and polysomnography tests.  

  1. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Specific

  1. Perform routine pulmonary physiology tests, exercise testing, polysomnography test, ambulatory sleep test, pulse oximetry study.
  2. Provide CPAP counselling services, information on polysomnography and pulmonary physiology tests.
  3. Evaluate and access reliability of findings, patient’s performance and pertinent clinical implications.
  4. Perform manual scoring of polysomnography test, and assessment on validity of pulmonary physiology tests.
  5. Generate and dispatch accurate reports.
  6. Maintain record of reports and patients records in departmental database.
  7. Schedule test appointments and follow up appointments as needed.
  8. Perform of routine calibration and maintenance of equipment to ensure accurate and reliable assessment and diagnosis; troubleshooting errors when variances arise.
  9. Check, maintain and manage inventory stock.
  10. Assist in the training of junior medical officers and assistant medical technologists.
  11. Assist and participate in clinical research activities in the department.
  12. Participate in Quality Improvement projects as assigned.

  1. Performance of other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  2. Maintain cleanliness and order of laboratory and workspace at all times.
  3. Be actively involved in hospital’s projects and functions and participate in community outreach programs.
  4. Uphold and maintain a culture of patient-centered care and safety.
  1. JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Education / Training / Experience

  1. Fresh graduate with a Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent.
  2. Minimum six years for diploma* holders working in a sleep laboratory and/or a pulmonary function laboratory in a hospital.

*Diploma in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent.

Professional License

  1. BCLS certificate (Required)
  2. Preferred, if not, at least one of the following should be attained within 2 years of employment/promotion into position:
  3. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or
  4. Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)

  1. Required to work in rotating shifts (day/night) as needed.
  2. Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint needed.
  3. Should be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
