Qualifications

:

PhD in Public Health, Health Services Research or a related discipline, e.g. Clinical Investigation, Clinical Research, Clinical Epidemiology, or doctorate degree.

 

 

 

Experience

:

  • Preferably 2 years post-PhD and relevant experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies and/or healthcare programme evaluation
  • Preferably with track record of first author publications in the medical, health services research or public health literature
  • Proven ability to initiate and successfully manage research projects
  • Prior research experience in healthcare setting
  • Experience in health economic evaluation would be advantageous

 

 

 

Special Attributes and Knowledge

:

  • Proficiency in literature search and reference management software (e.g. Endnote)
  • Familiar with statistical software applications such as SPSS / STATA and/or qualitative analytic software such as NVivo.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Advanced verbal communication and written skills
  • Meticulous with an eye for details
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational skills
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills

B.       PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Research project conceptualization and development in the designated research themes
  • Plan, develop, oversee and monitor research projects
  • Perform literature review, analysis and interpretation of research data
  • Presentation of findings to relevant stakeholders
  • Writing and reviewing research proposals, grant applications, papers, presentations and conference abstracts
  • Publish in peer reviewed local and international journals
  • Present research papers in local and international scientific conferences
  • Provide regular research training within the department
  • Develop research networks with local and foreign institutions/universities, in support of the department’s research efforts
  • Supervise research assistants and research coordinators in the conduct of research projects
  • Mentor/provide guidance and support to junior research team members and staff who are keen to participate in research activities

 

C.       SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Plan and oversee relevant research events/ meetings e.g. expert visit/ consultancy, journal/ writing clubs, research workshops, research committee meetings
  • Any other duties assigned by the Director, Clinical Research Unit
