Research Fellow
You will be working closely with NCID researchers and collaborators, both internal and external, to initiate, develop and complete research projects. The key roles include writing grant applications, preparing project protocols, supervising research coordinators/assistants in study implementation, analysing data, and preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work strategically with doctors, local and international academic collaborators, epidemiologists and statisticians, to formulate and answer important clinical and public health questions on the diagnosis, prognosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases.
- Assist with manuscript preparation for submission to peer reviewed journals through literature review, preliminary data analysis, and drafting of manuscripts.
- Work closely with principal investigators, other research fellows, and research assistants to execute new studies by planning, preparing study protocols, and implementing these studies efficiently.
- Prepare research grant applications under the direction of NCID researchers, including performing necessary literature review, advising on study design, and coordinating inputs from researchcollaborators.
- Liaise with collaborators to bridge clinical and scientific information in order to integrate both into new and ongoing projects.
- Present study results at local and international scientific conferences.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Head, NCID Clinical Trials Unit
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- PhD or Masters (minimum requirement) degree in Science or Public Health
- Good knowledge in Ethics Applications, Epidemiology and Biostati stics would be an advantage
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Astute critical thinking skills and ability to learn quickly
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficient in at least one statistical soft ware package (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R)
- Prior experience in publication of research findings would be an advantage
