Research Fellow
Job Title: Research Fellow - Academic Clinical Programme (Reconstruction & Recovery)
Employment Type: 2-years Contract (Full-time)
OVERVIEW:
The Research Fellow will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of the Rehab Health Academic Clinical Programme (ACP) research strategy, ensuring alignment with NHG’s Academic Health System (AHS) and national healthcare priorities. He/she will work closely with the ACP Chair and track and administrative co-chairs to ensure the successful execution of the ACP’s vision and mission. This role focuses on driving high-impact clinical and translational research, securing competitive funding, fostering multi-institutional, regional/international collaborations to enhance research and innovation outcomes. Additionally, the Research Fellow may be required to engage in clinical work as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Research Leadership
• Develop and execute a multi-year research and innovation strategy, positioning the ACP as a leader in clinical, translational and innovative research
• Identify emerging research trends and opportunities to position the ACP as a leader in its field
• Work closely with clinical, academic, and administrative leaders to integrate research with clinical practice and education to transform practice and achieve the best in class
• Strengthen multidisciplinary collaborations across academic, clinical, and industry partners
Research Development & Collaboration
• Facilitate multidisciplinary and cross-institutional research collaborations
• Strengthen partnerships with industry, government agencies, and international research bodies
• Support clinician-scientists and early-career researchers in developing high-impact research programmes
Funding & Grants Acquisition
• Lead efforts to secure research funding from competitive grants, philanthropic sources, and industry partnerships
• Oversee grant applications and compliance, ensuring alignment with institutional and regulatory priorities.
• Foster industry partnerships to support commercialization, intellectual property development, and innovation-driven research
• Ensure sustainable funding strategies to expand the ACP’s research capabilities
Research Governance & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to ethical and regulatory standards in research activities
• Develop strategies and frameworks to optimize research efficiency and integrity, working with existing bodies to achieve this
Clinical translation and impact
• Work with multidisciplinary professionals to evaluate and solve gaps and inefficiencies in clinical service deliveries
• Achieve tangible improvements and outcomes in rehabilitation outcomes and service deliveries and technology integration, resulting in e.g. reduced complications or length of stays and increased therapy delivery without large increases in resources
Educational
• Collaborate with Senior Exec/Asst Manager to scope clinical rehabilitation professional education locally and regionally where applicable
• Collaborate with Senior Exec/Asst Manager in development of educational programmes at postgraduate level in collaboration with academic institutions
Knowledge Translation & Impact
• Promote the dissemination of research findings through high-impact publications, conferences, and translational initiatives
• Support innovation, commercialization, and policy impact from research outcomes
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• PhD, PhD or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., rehabilitation medicine, allied health, clinical sciences, engineering, healthcare AI, translational health research /operations or education)
• ~1-2 years post Doc relevant working experience in a related programme or institution or healthcare or change management within Singapore’s Healthscope
• AHPC or nursing (SNB) license or an equivalent certification is preferred
• Proven track record of securing research grant funding or leading successful research /innovation programmes
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, collaborative abilities, and stakeholder engagement skills
