JOB PURPOSE
This position requires the research assistant to co-ordinate all activities related to clinical research, accordance to the his or her qualification and licensure. The research assistant is also expected to provide assistance to the Principal Investigator (PI) in the tracking and preparation of reports related to the research.

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 Specific
a) Assist and support the PI and study team in their clinical research activities from study planning, setting up, screening, recruiting/enrolling patients, following up with the patients until the end of the project.
These include but are not limited to the following:
 Searching the literature for information about experiments, designing test materials, recruiting participants, collecting data, entering data or running data analysis;
 Planning, organizing and coordinating the workflow of the research study, including one's own role within it;
 Writing protocols and informed consents, and developing research survey or questionnaire;
 Validating quality of data elements/data editing;
 Diagnosing and problem solving as it relates to the research projects;
 Coordinating the research projects;
 Screening patients for eligibility to the study;
 Conducting screens and assays;
 Explaining the study to the patients;
 Enrolling patients and ensuring their compliance to the protocol;
 Performing study scheduling and tracking patient's participation;
 Administering patient interviews and preparing assessments;
 Recording, tabulating and entering research data;
 Preparing research manuscripts and research presentations;
 Developing and maintaining research databases; and
 Keeping records and accounting of the management of the project
b) Maintains and establishes good relationships with sponsor, clinicians, other support staff, subjects and research team.
c) Responsible for the general daily running of the research project undertaken by the principal investigator.
d) Assists in data retrieval from participants’ medical records as needed, maintaining a high level of ethical conduct and confidentiality in the process.
e) Maintains accurate and complete documentation and records of the study assigned. Maintains all investigator files and data spreadsheets.
f) Coordinates with the technical team on logistics, schedules, of all testing/interview/intervention sessions.
g) Assists in the conduct of the testing/interview sessions and/or intervention sessions and provide monitoring and follow-up on subjects during and after the testing/interview and or intervention sessions as required.
h) Ensures timely submissions of reports and revisions to Domain Specific Review Boards (DSRB) and the secretariat/grantor of the research as required.
i) Ensures proper archiving and storage of study documents and or study specific audio recordings at study end.
 Update Knowledge in Practice
Keeps abreast of evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence related to the research project.
Critically review and present current research trends and evidence-based literature to the study team/Psychology department level Journal Club.
• Create & Communicate Evidence
Assists in writing abstracts, presentation of posters and/or oral presentations for a local conference, as appropriate.

 

General
i. Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital’s service vision, mission and values.
ii. Undertakes any other duties relevant to the programme of research.
iii. Constantly evaluate and make continuous improvement to the work processes
iv. Provides administrative support to research meetings and discussion.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Training / Experience
i. A general degree/diploma in science or health sciences is preferred.
ii. Possess basic research skills, and demonstrate abilities to learn more advanced research skills including statistical analysis.
iii. Experience working with patients suffering from painful conditions or with digital/technology based innovations is highly preferred but not compulsory.
iv. Has experience working in a team and possesses good communication, interview and organisational skills.
v. Ability to demonstrate competencies expected of this job grade.
