Research Asst - Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology (Contract)

JOB SUMMARY
 

The research assistant will support the Principal Investigator (PI) in the coordination and execution of research studies. The role involves managing study operations, facilitating patient recruitment, ensuring protocol adherence, data management and documentation.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Research Co-ordination

  • Assist PI in submitting study related documentation, including DSRB applications, renewals and amendments.
  • Maintain the investigator study file and ensure completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor study progress and ensure timely completion of milestones.
  • Ensure all study activities comply with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and institutional requirements.
  • Assist in preparing materials for audits, monitoring visits and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist PI in purchasing required consumables and/or equipment.
  • Provide general administrative support to the research team to ensure smooth project execution.

 

Participant Recruitment and Study Procedures

  • Identify, screen and recruit eligible participants according to study protocols.
  • Conduct the informed consent process, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Schedule and facilitate study visits and follow-ups.
  • Perform study procedures including data collection, sample collection (e.g., blood, swabs), and sample processing as required.

 

Data Management

  • Perform accurate and timely data entry into study databases or REDCap.
  • Maintain confidential handling of participant information and research data.
  • Assist PI for data extraction from study databases.

 

Laboratory Work

  • Process and handle research samples in accordance with study protocols and laboratory standards.
  • Coordinate with external collaborators to prepare, transport, and manage research samples.
  • Work closely with collaborators to carry out additional laboratory investigations required for the research studies.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Polytechnic diploma or university degree in a relevant discipline, such as Life Sciences, Biology, Medical Technology, Biochemistry.
  • Prior experience in clinical/diagnostic laboratory experience or research preferred, though not mandatory
  • Familiarity with MS Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work as a team.
  • Possess initiative and ability to work independently.
