Research Assistant

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Isolate cells from human whole blood, culture cell lines, induce differentiation, and verify cell phenotypes using various techniques
  • Use image analysis software to process and stich imaging data, perform analyses, and interpret the results
  • Perform siRNA screening to identify appropriate therapeutic targets for suppressing T cell inflammatory cytokines.
  • Identify non-immunostimulatory delivery vehicles for siRNA delivery to immune cells
  • Work together with the Research Scientist to set up atopic dermatitis mouse model and carry out funded NSC Research Lab projects
  • Perform tissue or cell homogenization, RNA isolation, confirmation of RNA quality, reverse transcription and quantitative PCR
  • Guidance of students to perform experiments
  • Assist in lab management
  • Perform data analyses and communicate results in a clear and timely manner.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sciences or equivalent
  • Experience in cell isolation, cell culture, flow cytometry, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), imaging and molecular techniques.
  • Good written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and resourceful 
  • Takes initiative and can perform troubleshooting
