Radiographer

 To perform all general and certain specialized radiographic examinations, with due regard to patient care, clinical responsibility, radiation protection and effective use of technology.

 

1. Major Duties and Responsibilities

(A) SPECIFIC (80%)

  1. Perform all duties required of a professional Radiographer.
  2. Provide radiology services as requested by referring clinicians according to statutory regulations and acceptable clinical standards.
  3. Ensure compliance to Radiation safety regulations.
  4. Participate in the maintenance of a round-the-clock radiography service by rotating shifts.
  5. Being on-call for relief staff for emergency and mass casualties by roster and when necessary
  6. Responsible for quality control programs and maintenance of imaging equipment and accessories in the assigned clinical area.
  7. Provide guidance to junior staff or students assigned to the section.
  8. Ensure personal continual professional development and training.
  9. Coordinate with staff from other sections or departments to ensure continuity of patient care.
  10. Cognizant of relevant standard operating protocols (SOPs) and standard work instructions (SWIs) in the assigned clinical areas.
  11. Ensure proper records keeping and management.
  12. Responsible for the good housekeeping and inventory of stocks and materials in the assigned clinical area.

 

(B) GENERAL (20%)

  1. Provides teaching and leadership guidance to junior staff. Act on higher positions when necessary.
  2. Embrace continuous improvements as our way of life by improving and refinin9 work performance on a daily basis.
  3. Any other duties assigned by the reporting officer, Department Manager or Head of Department.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Recognized Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  2. Competent in diagnostic radiography and conversant in radiographic processing, quality control and film fault and troubleshooting of x-ray equipment.

 

(B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE

  1. Radiation Protection Act
  2. Allied Health Professional Act

 

ABNORMAL PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITION

  1. Radiation hazards and physical lifting of patient.
