OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN
The ophthalmic technician performs various eye investigations essential to the diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- CLINICAL CARE
Ophthalmic Investigations
- Humphrey Visual Field (HVF)
- Photography and document the ocular structures in optical images
- Cirrus OCT
- Spectralis OCT (SPOCT)
Ophthalmic technician sub-specialty investigations includes either and/or :
Anterior Segment assessment
- AL-Scan
- OPD Scan
- Endothelial Cell Count (ECC)
Refractive Surgery assessment
- Corneal Topography (Orbscan and Galilei)
- Optical Abberation (HOA) (Zywave)
- Cornea Central Thickness (CCT) (Ultrasound Pachymetry)
3. SAFE CARE
- Maintain zero harm to patient
- Practice due diligence during all patient interactions to ensure safety of the patient at all times.
- Undertake corrective actions immediately and consistently when feedback given.
4. RESEARCH & QUALITY
- May assist in department projects.
5. GENERAL & AD-HOC DUTIES
- Actively involved in hospital and department’s initiatives e.g. eye screening events
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Diploma in any discipline
- Preferred with IT related/ Engineering/ Biochemical
Training
On job training will be provided
