Job Description:

Nursing Officers are responsible for managing nursing resources of an assigned unit and supervising the nursing team to ensure the delivery of quality patient care and adherence to the standards of nursing practice. They also promote the continuing professional education and development of nursing staff, while working within the direction and guidance of their scope of practice and the Singapore Nursing Board’s Core Competencies for Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Nurse [Psychiatric] (RNP).

Nursing Officers are accountable for their scope of practice, which include supervising and delegating nursing activities to professional nurses and support care staff. In support of the vision, mission, goals and strategic thrusts of the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and the Nursing Department, Nursing Officers could assume the role of NM, NC or NE, and practice in a variety of clinical contexts including inpatient and outpatient nursing, education and research, infection prevention and control, nursing informatics and quality management (refer to Annex).

 

Educational and Professional Requirements

  • Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Must be registered with Singapore Nursing Board
