NHGD Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist
Job Scope
The Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for the daily routine laboratory operations and works that include phlebotomy, electrocardiogram, spirometry and clinical laboratory works. He/She is responsible to provide timely, quality, accurate and reliable diagnostic laboratory test results to the clinicians for patient management.
Job Responsibilties
- Responsible for the skillful, timely, accurate and sufficient collection of blood specimens from patients as required for clinical tests, using various techniques such as venipuncture, capillary collection and/or heel pricks

Perform phlebotomy and ECG in an accurate, efficient and professional way

Perform Point of Care Testing (eg. Prothrombin Time, glucose) and clinical laboratory tests such as urinalysis (eg. Urine FEME, dipstick, pregnancy), haematology (eg. full blood count, peripheral blood slides, erythrocyte sedimentation rate), biochemistry (eg. HbA1c, neonate bilirubin), microscopy works (eg: fungus smear, high vaginal swab) independently

Ensure specimen identification, accession, processing and storing of test specimens are in consistent with good laboratory practice

Verify and validate all test results. Be able to identify and pick up discrepancies and perform the necessary corrective actions

Provide clinicians with timely, quality accurate and reliable test results

Ensure proper documentations for traceability and in adherence to good documentation practices

Ensure machine is in good working condition and well maintained

Prepare equipments, analysers, reagents, controls and calibration materials as required.

Perform and record Internal and External Quality Controls and troubleshoot in accordance to work instructions / protocol

Ensure compliance to hand hygiene, workplace safety, International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG) and International Standardisation of Organsations (ISO) and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements of the laboratory
Job Requirements

Recognized Diploma in Medical Technology or related Science field

At least 1 year experience in laboratory environment and/or relevant experience in phlebotomy preferred

Fresh graduate without experience will also be considered
