Manager, Ops Pathology

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Pathology Operations, the Manager/Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing the operational efficiency and strategic direction of Pathology services. The Manager/Assistant Manager will facilitate the reorganisation and centralisation of NHG Pathology and support the successful roll out of NHG Digital Pathology (DP) with TTSH as the anchoring hospital.

 

The Manager/Assistant Manager will plan, develop, implement new care models and clinical services, iteratively improving and optimising at a system level, to support the provision of services within the cluster. The ideal candidate will be a catalyst for collaborations, an advocate for operational excellence, improving processes and redesigning workflows, contributing to the hospital’s mission and strive for excellence.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Centralisation of Anatomic Pathology (AP) Services within the NHG cluster

  • Support NHG Cluster Chief of Pathology and Assistant Director to centralise, harmonise, manage resources and case mix within NHG Pathology.
  • This will involve close collaborations and interactions both within and between institutions to streamline and harmonise cross-institutional NHG Pathology workflows and processes, engagement with multi-disciplinary stakeholders to strengthen partnerships for clinical excellence.
  • Support NHG Cluster Chief of Pathology with the audits and accreditation of NHG AP laboratories by MOH. 
  • Support the NHG Cluster Chief of Pathology and Assistant Director in organising, collating, and presenting data to various committees, workgroups and senior management.
  • Prepare, review, and execute service agreements for the provision of AP services between TTSH, KTPH and WH, as well as other healthcare clusters or external laboratories.

 

TTSH Pathology’s Digitisation, Digitalisation and Innovation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and facilitate workshops/brainstorming sessions to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation and transformation, to enhance service quality, productivity and efficiency, whilst promoting staff growth and development in strategic niche areas of expertise.
  • Support the Assistant Director with projections, feasibility studies, financial evaluation and analyses, to recommend evidence-based, high value, patient centric, sustainable care models and initiatives.
  • Assist the Assistant Director with driving digitisation, digitalisation and innovation projects i.e., Robotics Process Automation, Quality Improvement projects, use of AI/GenAI and the adoption of new tools and technologies for operational and organisational excellence.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of digital initiatives on operational efficiency and patient outcomes.

 

TTSH Pathology’s Renovation and Expansion

  • Coordinate the upgrading of facilities and equipment to meet Pathology’s service needs, including budgetary planning, preparation of technical specifications, review of proposals and space layouts for Pathology’s renovation, modifications, alteration and addition works.
  • Utilise data analytics for forecasting areas of high growth and/or high potential, to support HOD Pathology and Assistant Director for strategic expansion and development of sub-specialties, services, and sustainable clinical care models.

 

Others

  • Assist in providing secretariat support for audits and accreditation, and support for any other NHG Pathology/Pathology Ops related administrative/secretariat responsibilities.
  • Engage, promote, and support inter-, intra-department/hospital level initiatives and events, underpinning the hospital’s commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with preference given to candidates with advanced degrees.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and resource management.
  • Experience in strategic planning and/or renovation works would be advantageous.
  • Meticulous and analytical, with good organisational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proactive, service-orientated mindset, with a dedication to quality and efficiency in delivering better care to patients.
