HEAL (Health Empowered by AI Launchpad) is NHG’s flagship programme to drive the safe, impactful, and system-wide adoption of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare. Hosted under the Digital Innovation Office (DIO) within the Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI), HEAL supports AI initiatives that enhance care delivery, optimise operations, and empower our workforce.
The DIO acts as the enabler and integrator, connecting strategy, delivery, and governance to accelerate innovation across NHG. We operate with startup energy and public service purpose.
The Role
The HEAL Ops Manager / Senior Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and execution of the HEAL Operations function. This role oversees the day-to-day running of HEAL Ops while remaining hands-on in delivery, ensuring that governance, planning, and operational execution are carried out reliably and at pace.
This is a player–coach role. The incumbent is expected to both lead the HEAL Ops team and personally drive complex or high-priority operational work, translating strategic direction and governance decisions into clear plans, actions, and outcomes.
The role serves as the single point of operational accountability for HEAL.
Key Responsibilities
1. Functional Leadership & Team Oversight
- Lead and oversee the HEAL Operations function, setting priorities, standards, and ways of working
- Provide direction, coaching, and performance oversight to team members, ensuring strong execution and accountability
- Allocate work, review outputs, and ensure continuity and resilience across HEAL Ops activities
2. Programme Operations & Governance
- Oversee and ensure high-quality secretariat and operational support for HEAL governance forums (e.g. JAG Committee, user tracks, working groups)
- Review and endorse agendas, papers, minutes, decision logs, and action trackers before circulation
- Ensure governance processes are executed smoothly and support timely, well-informed decision-making
3. Planning, Prioritisation & Coordination
- Lead operational planning for HEAL, including annual and quarterly workplans, milestones, and sequencing of activities
- Translate strategic directions and governance decisions into executable operational plans
- Monitor progress across workstreams, proactively identify risks or bottlenecks, and intervene early to resolve issues
4. Hands-On Execution & Project Leadership
- Remain directly involved in selected operational workstreams, complex issues, or time-critical matters
- Lead or co-lead discrete projects aligned to HEAL priorities (e.g. pilots, evaluations, reviews, capability-building initiatives)
- Drive cross-functional coordination to ensure projects move from intent to execution and closure
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment
- Act as a key operational interface with NHG institutions, HEAL track leads, enabling functions (Finance, HR, IT), and external partners
- Proactively manage stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment, follow-through, and issue resolution
- Represent HEAL Operations in cross-functional discussions and engagements as required
6. Reporting, Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee preparation of operational dashboards, reports, and updates for HEAL leadership and governance committees
- Use operational and adoption data to surface insights, inform prioritisation, and improve execution
- Drive continuous improvement of HEAL operational processes, playbooks, and controls
7. Departmental & Administrative Oversight
- Oversee HEAL Ops administrative functions including finance coordination, procurement tracking, HR processes, and vendor management
- Ensure documentation, records, and reporting are accurate, consistent, and audit-ready
- Support resource planning and operational readiness as HEAL scales
Leadership & Ways of Working
The HEAL Ops Manager / Senior Manager is expected to:
- Lead with clarity and accountability while remaining hands-on
- Empower the team to operate independently, stepping in where judgement or experience is required
- Balance pace with discipline in a fast-moving, evolving environment
- Maintain high standards of execution without unnecessary bureaucracy
Who We’re Looking For
- At least 7–10 years of relevant experience in operations, programme management, governance, or delivery roles
- Demonstrated experience leading teams or functions, with accountability for outcomes
- Strong track record of hands-on execution in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Comfortable operating independently, making judgement calls, and engaging senior stakeholders
- Experience in healthcare, public sector, innovation programmes, or large organisations is strongly preferred
