Locum Sonographer
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) SPECIFIC
- Perform diagnostic sonography, including ultrasound and other imaging modes when necessary, with due regard to radiation safety, patient care and clinical requirements.
- Participate in the maintenance of a sufficient ultrasound services by roster and when necessary.
- Being on-call for relief staff for emergency and mass casualties by roster and when necessary.
- Ensure good diagnostic quality of services/products, notifying equipment problems.
- In charge of department whilst on non-office hour shifts with regard to matters at hand.
- Observe all radiation safety protection rules and infection control policy with regard to patients, staff and the public.
- Responsible for the good housekeeping and inventory of his/her workstation.
- Ensure maintenance of proper records of cases done consistent with good sonographic practice.
- May involve more advanced investigations with relevant experience and training.
- Provide guidance for quality control, practical teaching of students and juniors in patient care and clinical areas of sonography.
(B) GENERAL
- Assist in patient management such as registration, billing, appointments, statistics if and when possible.
- Supervise junior staff working with him/her.
- Any other duties assigned by supervisors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Recognised Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography / Ultrasonography or equivalent.
- Competent in diagnostic sonography and conversant in processing, quality control and trouble shooting of ultrasound equipment.
PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
- Radiation Protection Act – Radiation Worker Licence not required.
ABNORMAL PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITION
- Radiation hazards and physical lifting of patient.
