About the Digital Innovation Office

The Digital Innovation Office (DIO) is NHG’s engine for digital transformation. We connect strategy, delivery, and governance to accelerate innovation across the cluster with startup energy and public service purpose.

Our remit spans NHG’s flagship programmes:

  • Digital Hospital – reimagining care within hospitals through technology-enabled workflows, smarter systems, and next-gen infrastructure that improve patient experience and staff productivity.
  • Digital Community – strengthening care continuity and coordination, deepening resident connection, engagement, and outreach, while building a future-ready workforce.
  • HEAL (Health Empowered by AI Launchpad) – accelerating responsible AI adoption at scale, building workforce and system capability, and driving measurable health and system impact.

Together, these programmes enable NHG’s network of hospitals, clinics, and partners to deliver better care and outcomes, while preparing our workforce to meet the pressing challenges of a rapidly ageing population, tighter manpower supply, and the national shift from healthcare to health.

The Role

We’re looking for an Innovation Systems Lead (Deputy Director / Assistant Director, DIO), a senior digital technology specialist who acts as a consultant and trusted advisor to NHG’s hospitals, clinics, and system partners.

You will work with stakeholders to design or lead the design of digital environments and platforms, from hospital IT systems to community care solutions to AI sandbox environments that allow safe testing, co-design, and scaling of new technologies within the guardrails of relevant regulatory frameworks.

This includes overseeing partners’ and vendors’ development work, co-designing solutions, and providing strategic inputs that shape NHG’s digital direction. You may also convene and lead cross-functional workgroups to ensure coherence, interoperability, and alignment to system priorities.

This role demands breadth of technology insight (hospital IT, interoperability, automation, digital community solutions, AI), a strong grasp of industry networks and partners, and the ability to understand business drivers, frame ROI, and translate technology potential into sustainable value for workforce, patients, and system.

What You’ll Do

  • Technology Scanning & Advisory
Maintain a radar of emerging hospital and digital health technologies (clinical systems, automation, virtual care, AI), assess relevance to NHG priorities, and brief leadership with clear recommendations.
  • Solution Evaluation & Roadmaps
Source and benchmark solutions; assess interoperability, ROI, compliance, and adoption feasibility. Develop roadmaps and option papers for decision-making.
  • Platform & Infrastructure Leadership
Guide the design and oversee partners’/vendors’ development of digital environments and platforms (e.g., Epic, HEALIX, digital front-door solutions). This includes shaping AI sandbox environments for safe experimentation and evaluation, ensuring guardrails, interoperability, and user focus, and aligning with national and NHG regulatory frameworks. Convene or lead workgroups to align stakeholders and ensure coherence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a discerning advisor to clinical, operational, and institutional leaders. Translate complex technology choices into clear business, care, and workforce implications.
  • Partnership Development
Engage with ecosystem partners (vendors, academia, agencies) to shape pilots, PoCs, and pathways to scale, with well-defined success metrics.
  • Knowledge Sharing
Produce playbooks, capability maps, and practical guidance to help NHG teams navigate the digital health landscape confidently.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or related fields.
  • Experience: ~10+ years in digital health, hospital technology, IT strategy, or healthcare innovation.
  • Essential Capabilities:
    • Broad fluency in digital health and hospital technology, with the ability to engage across domains.
    • Strong grasp of healthcare operations, business drivers, and ROI considerations.
    • Ability to act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, discerning needs and shaping roadmaps.
    • Independent, resourceful, and comfortable forging partnerships, sourcing information, and leverage networks.
  • Preferred exposure:
    • Familiarity with hospital IT systems and interoperability standards (e.g. HL7, FHIR).
    • Understanding of digital health and AI regulatory frameworks (e.g. MOH, IMDA, HSA).
    • Experience with procurement, vendor management, or platform governance.
    • Familiarity with population health and digital community initiatives.
    • Experience in AI governance and ethical adoption.
