Hospital Clinician
The Hospital Clinician scheme is a comprehensive and structured long-term career path for doctors who aspire to take on higher duties and wider responsibilities in a hospital setting.
Why This Role Matters?
Through development of broad-based as well as clinical focused skills, HCs will form the “backbone” of the hospital’s medical care resource, working in teams with Specialist doctors, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.
Eligibility
Locally trained under Ministry of Manpower Holdings (MOHH)
Completed at least 2 years of clinical experience as Medical Officer or equivalent grade (start of PGY4)
Key Clinical Responsibilities
- Hospital Clinicians are responsible for clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for diverse patient populations, whilst collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care delivery.
- These clinicians conduct clinical audits, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to research activities that advance medical practice.
- They also mentor junior staff and take on progressive leadership responsibilities in both clinical and administrative capacities.

- Your communication skills should be exceptional, as you'll be coordinating care across teams and mentoring colleagues.
- You must be registered with the Singapore Medical Council and demonstrate strong clinical reasoning abilities, commitment to patient safety, and enthusiasm for continuous learning.
- The role requires flexibility to adapt to changing healthcare needs and the ability to work effectively across different clinical areas whilst maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.
Mandatory requirements
- Hold conditional or full registration with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC). Conditionally registered doctor must attain Level 2 supervisory level before they could transfer employment
- Possess a current and valid SMC practising certificate that permits clinical practice in Singapore
- Maintain a valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate demonstrating competency in emergency resuscitation procedures
