MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

SPECIFIC

 

Clinical Care

 

Quality of work

 

  1. Maintain consistent standards of care
  • Conduct nutritional assessment through analysis of  relevant data and clinical reasoning
  • Formulate an appropriate nutrition diagnosis
  • Develop and implement the appropriate medical nutrition therapy and nutritional care plan
  • Set treatment goals in collaboration with patient
  • Monitor and review patient’s progress and adjust care plan accordingly
  • Provide patient education and caregiver training
  • Work with caregivers and multi-disciplinary team
  • Documentation of nutrition care process in accordance with the guidelines determined by the department and the hospital
  • Adhere to organizational and departmental guidelines
  • Practice according to the clinical standards set by the department and hospital
  • All expected clinical competency must be achieved according to the competency checklist

 

  1. Maintain and manage workload
  • Achieve target caseload and clinical key achievement areas
  • Plan and complete work effectively within time frame
  • Prioritize workload appropriately

 

  1. Assist in quality improvement activities/projects (relating to improvement in clinical care)
  • Adhere to patient quality service according to standards by the hospital and department
  • Actively participate as a member for quality improvement projects at hospital/department level

 

  1. Maintain consistent CEP standards
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, caregivers, doctors, nurses and other allied healthcare workers
  • Uphold professional ethics

  • Maintain zero harm to patient
  • Follows infection control practices as determined by the hospital

 

 

Education

 

  1. Supervision and mentoring
  • Assist in the co-supervision/co-training of staff

 

  1. Assist in the supervision of 1st – 2nd year student
  • Supervise polytechnic student project
  • Co-placement educator for university student placements

 

  1. Delivery of education
  • Deliver in-service training and education to intra-department colleagues
  • Prepare training material and conduct in-house and public forums as required
  • Present in continual educational in-services and forums

 

  1. Deliver education to patients/public
  • Participate and contribute in voluntary and community organizations in the provision of nutritional activities
  • Contribute to media responses

 

  1. Assist to conduct professional workshops and seminars

 

  1. Planning and development
  • Assist to organize, coordinate and provide continuing education to colleagues
  • Assist to organise health related education event or community event
  • Assist to develop resource materials
  • Assist to review and update curriculum exam papers for student

 

 

Research

 

  1. Update knowledge in practice
  • Apply and demonstrate evidence based practice
  • Critically evaluate research literature and share with others

 

  1. Develop research
  • Participate and support research data collection/design and analysis

  • Assist to develop abstracts/posters/oral presentations

 

Management/Leadership

 

  1. Mange services and resources
  • Assist to manage services and resources to achieve department/hospital targets
  • Coordinate and assist to manage food and beverage services
  • Implement new service programmes under the supervision of senior dietitian to meet patients’ needs

 

  1. Collaboration and communication
  • Assist to lead department workgroup to deliver and improve service and care
  • Participate in department project

 

  1. Set strategic direction
  • Assist to manage information and data to identify gaps and potential areas of change
  • Assist to evaluate and present findings to department to influence change

 

 

GENERAL

  • Actively involved in hospital and department’s initiatives
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor / HOD
