JOB PURPOSE

 

Dietitians provide dietetics services to inpatient, outpatient and the community. They work with multidisplinary team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for patients with a variety of health conditions requiring specialized nutrition intervention to augment medical treatment. In the community, dietitians advocate better nutrition practices via various platforms to promote overall community health.


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Clinical Dietetics
1. Provide evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients with a variety of health conditions requiring specialised nutrition intervention
2. Apply the nutrition care process to correctly assess, diagnose, plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and document nutrition care
3. Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary team to ensure patient-centred care
4. Communicate nutrition care plan to patients, family members or caregivers during hospitalisation and upon discharge
5. Manage workload effectively and efficiently with safe patient care


Education, Research & Training
1. Participate in continuing professional development activities
2. Assist in nutrition-related research and quality improvement initiatives in the department
3. Develop health promotion and nutrition education materials
4. Deliver nutrition talks or workshops to patients, caregivers or the community as part of clinical nutrition education or health promotion
5. Assist or organize outreach events
6. Deliver training and education to multidisciplinary team members
7. Assist in the supervision and training of dietetic interns, polytechnic students and dietetic assistants

 

Food Service
1. Deliver therapeutic diet education to Food Service personnel
2. Liaise and coordinate with Food Service team on therapeutic diet requirements
3. Where relevant, assist in providing requirements for meals or dishes set up in the electronic meal ordering system; assist in Food Service audits; and assist in menu and recipe development and analysis


Administration and Leadership
1. Assist with administrative and operational duties as required
2. Assist in managing and coordinating daily clinical work operations
3. Coordinate or manage group tasks or duties

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Training / Experience
i. Degree or Master in Dietetics from a recognized university
ii. Minimum 6 months clinical internship
iii. Eligible for membership with Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association or other professional associations

i. Proficiency in written / spoken English and fluent in Mandarin, Malay, Tamil or dialects
ii. Good interpersonal and communication skills
iii. Willing to collaborate and work well with team members
iv. Willing to learn and keep up to date of skills and evidence-based medical and nutrition information
