JOB TITLE : Research Associate / Research Officer

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
GERI is committed to creating real-world impacts to enable healthy ageing by bridging the gaps between scientific evidence and real-world practice.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate or Research Officer to support two community-based projects. The projects aim to co-design community-based interventions with older adults and/or relevant stakeholders to improve nutrition in isolated older adults (project 1) and physical function in older adults living with dementia (project 2).


Both projects will evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of the co-designed interventions by applying implementation science and behavioural change theories. The Research Associate/Officer will work closely with the Principal Investigators, other research team members and research partners.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) SPECIFIC (100%)
1. Conduct literature search in relevant topics.
2. Develop / adapt survey tools which are culturally sensitive to seniors in Singapore.
3. Assist with DSRB applications.
4. Collect and analyse qualitative (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus group discussions) and/or quantitative (e.g., questionnaire, clinical measurements) data.
5. Work with multiple stakeholders to co-design novel interventions to improve wellbeing of vulnerable seniors.
6. Write reports, manuscripts and other forms of written materials for research dissemination.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

❑ Essential: research experience in health and/or social care
❑ As the project involves communicating with isolated seniors, candidate must be multilingual with the ability to speak at least one of the following: Malay, Tamil, Mandarin, Chinese dialects
❑ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, health sciences or social sciences
❑ Good communication and interpersonal skills
❑ Good presentation and writing skills
❑ Work experience in community-based health and social care sectors will be an advantage
❑ Background in community-based solutioning or design thinking or user experience (UX) research will be an advantage
(B) SPECIALISED TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
❑ Trained in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology
❑ For qualitative research: experience conducting focus group discussions with multiple stakeholders will be an advantage
❑ For quantitative research: familiarity with STATA or R will be an advantage
