JOB PURPOSE

Woodlands Health (WH) envisions personalised and quality healthcare for the community of the future. It will co-develop and integrate services with community stakeholders and extend care beyond the hospital into the community and homes.

 

The cardiac technologist is to coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in the operation and maintenance of cardiovascular equipment to provide detailed analysis of cardiovascular functions in the centre.

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Specific

 

  1. Perform routine cardiovascular tests: Electrocardiography, Ambulatory Holter/Blood Pressure. This includes download, analysis and interpretation of data.
  2. Perform Treadmill ECG and assist in Imaging Stress testing independently.
  3. Able to perform at least 1 out of the 3 complex Cardiovascular modality independently such as:

-Transthoracic Echocardiography including portables

-Invasive Cardiovascular Angiograms and Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty including doing on calls

-Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device checks, programming and implants

  1. Prepare reports of procedures performed, maintain adequate records and files reflecting patient information and operational data such as expenditures etc.
  2. Maintain equipment to ensure accurate testing and diagnosis. Trouble shoot errors when variances occur. Maintain a record of all repairs and routine maintenance of the equipment in the Centre.
  3. Maintain the emergency trolley (crash cart) in the Centre.
  4. Assist and participate in audit process in the Centre and ensure that the cardiac test equipment meet all regulatory requirements including safety requirements.
  5. Responsible for good housekeeping and inventory of his/her workstation and work environment.
  6. Assist Supervisor to maintain adequate inventory of units’ supplies and materials.
  7. Performs special projects as requested.
  8. Uphold patient rights and safety.
  9. Embrace continuous improvements as our way of life by improving and refining work performance on a daily basis.

 

General

Promote safety in the centre and help creating a learning environment.

Keep the centre neat and tidy at all times and comply to the infection control standard and guideline.

​​​​​​​Be actively involved in the Hospital’s Quality Improvement program as well as the community.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education / Training / Experience

  • New Hire: Possess at least a Science degree/Polytechnic Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant working experience

Professional License

  • Optional: Registered Cardiovascular Technologist with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Professionals (CAAHEP) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.
