JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in the operation and maintenance of cardiovascular equipment to provide detailed analysis of cardiovascular functions in the laboratory.

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A) Specific (85%)

Supervise, coordinate, and participate in activities of cardiovascular laboratory including transthoracic and trans-esophageal echocardiography, treadmill ECG stress testing, Blood Pressure and Holter monitoring and invasive cardiovascular test.

Plan and schedule work ensuring proper distribution of assignment and adequate manpower, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.

Assist in establishing, implementing and updating departmental policies and procedures.

Prepare reports of procedures performed; maintain adequate records and files reflecting patient information and operational data such as expenditures, revenue etc.

Implement procedures to ensure maintenance and operation of diagnostic equipment within manufacturer specifications and accreditation requirements; document quality control procedures.

Maintain the emergency trolley (crash cart) in the laboratory, and periodically update and review guidelines and training of BCLs /ACLs in the laboratory.

Maintain liaison with physicians, research personnel and staff to resolve problems and to advise concerning cardiovascular diagnostic procedures, techniques and equipment.

Assist and participate in the clinical research work in the laboratory.

Involve in the training of technologists and trainee doctors in the laboratory.

Monitor and regulates quality assurance activities in line with good laboratory practices.

Assist in special projects as requested.

Uphold patient rights and safety.

 

General

Participate in the collaborative studies with clinicians on cases of special interest and   significance as requested by the principal / Chief Medical Technologist or   Cardiologist.

Participate in relevant hospital committees and meetings.

Mentor junior staff and develop a harmonious and pleasant work environment.

Be actively involved in the Hospital’s Quality Improvement Program as well as the Community.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education / Training / Experience

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer/ Bachelor of Science degree/Polytechnic Diploma in cardiovascular or medical sonography.

Registered cardiovascular Technologist with The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Professionals (CAAHEP) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Cardiac Technologist in a hospital setting

Registered cardiovascular Technologist with The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Professionals (CAAHEP) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
