Asst Manager/Manager, Clinical Research & Innovation Office
Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and experienced project manager to lead and coordinate TTSH’s institutional efforts for the NMRC Centre Grant (CG) and Strategic Research Programme (SRP) under the Clinical Research & Innovation Office (CRIO). This role is pivotal in shaping the hospital’s research direction toward Academic Health Excellence, working closely with senior clinical researchers, theme leads, and operations teams to secure national-level research funding and deliver high-impact translational programmes. The candidate will be expected to lead institutional planning and grant development, oversee research operations, and drive continuous alignment of both CG and SRP with hospital priorities and national research thrusts.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SPECIFIC (80%)
A. Strategising and Leading NMRC Centre Grant (CG) Efforts
- Lead the full lifecycle of the Centre Grant, including grant writing strategy, content coordination, internal review cycles, budget planning, and submission processes.
- Engage researchers, cluster partners, and institutional leadership to define strategic research themes aligned with RIE2030 and NHG goals.
- Build a compelling and cohesive CG narrative that reflects TTSH’s translational strengths, operational readiness, and academic leadership.
- Coordinate across CRIO, clinical departments, and external collaborators to gather data, align deliverables, and ensure readiness for audit and reporting.
- Develop and track institutional milestones, KPIs, and implementation plans post-award to support sustainability and translational impact.
- Undertake duties that are critical towards achieving objectives related to CG matters.
- Managing the TTSH Strategic Research Programme (SRP)
- Oversee the execution of SRP workplans and ensure alignment with programme goals, including health system relevance, scalability, and research capability development.
- Serve as the main liaison between SRP principal investigators and relevant institutions to ensure smooth execution and performance monitoring.
- Maintain regular reporting structures for SRP outcomes, timelines, and spending; coordinate internal reviews and assist in future iterations of SRP planning.
- Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure CG and SRP contribute meaningfully to TTSH’s journey towards Academic Health Excellence by aligning projects with institutional themes of translation, talent development, and system enablers.
- Develop processes to systematically document research progress, institutional enablers, and translational outputs for leadership review, NMRC reporting, and strategic communications.
GENERAL (20%)
- Support CRIO-led institutional initiatives such as research education (e.g., mock reviews, workshops, mentorship programmes), innovation showcases, and planning of academic events.
- Lead or contribute to quality improvement initiatives that strengthen research administration, governance, or cross-department collaboration.
- Assist in audit preparedness, compliance activities, and improvement of CG / SRP workflows.
- Assist in documenting and communicating success stories or learning points from CG / SRP and research implementation efforts.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Head of department to support research planning, implementation, and capability-building across the institution.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, health sciences, public health, business administration, or equivalent.
- Postgraduate qualifications in research administration, implementation science, health policy, or project management would be advantageous.
- Proven experience in large-scale grant development, programme management, or multi-stakeholder research coordination
- Familiarity with the NMRC Centre Grant framework, national funding mechanisms, and RIE2030 strategies preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking, writing, and presentation skills — with an ability to synthesise complex content into compelling, funder-ready proposals
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement and coordination skills; able to work across clinicians, administrators, and external partners
- Agile, meticulous, and results-driven, with strong planning, documentation, and team leadership capabilities. Experience in clinical research, healthcare project implementation, or innovation enablement
- Comfort navigating operational systems in healthcare and highly organized to ensure all duties run smoothly on a daily and long-term basis.
- At least 5 years - 8 years of experience in research project management, clinical research administration, or healthcare innovation.
- Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes, ethics governance, or research protocol development is desirable.
