Job Description

The Anaesthetist will be responsible for providing safe and effective general anaesthesia for psychiatric patients receiving Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT).

 

You will ensure that each patient is medically fit to receive general anaesthesia before each treatment. You will monitor each patient’s clinical status during recovery from general anaesthesia and assesses each patient’s fitness to return to the ward or be discharged home after each ECT treatment. You will record all clinical findings in the ECT Record Charts and alert the Psychiatrist in-charge of ECT in the hospital of any serious/major clinical events during the procedure that could affect the patients. You will deliver IV dexmedetomidine and IV ketamine infusion as ordered by the ECT practitioner.

 

 

Requirements

Candidate must possess a recognised basic medical qualification and postgraduate qualification such as M Med, FANZCA, FRCA, FCAI and American Board of Anaesthesiology certificate which is registrable with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and also have completed a recognised advanced specialist training programme acceptable for accreditation as a Specialist Anaesthetist with the Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) and Ministry of Health (MOH).
